Don’t smoke after surgery and avoid crunchy foods as it may cause damaging any stitches. Avoid biting stitched area and brush gently. Call your dentist immediately if pain or bleeding won’t stop after following medication or given recovery instructions.

Any dental treatment usually has a risk or chances of failure. But professional surgeons don’t recommend root end surgery unless they really believe of need it and have high chance of success. If surgery is successful, it should be effective permanently. But in case it is not successful, they will perform additional treatment to pull out patient tooth.

Professional dentist recommended antibiotics to stop infection to spread after apicoectomy. After root end surgery, there might be a chance of nerve damage. If not this, the only option left behind is removal of tooth. People mostly prefer to have root end surgery or keep their natural tooth, because removing and replacing tooth is more expensive and complicated than an apicoectomy.

In case your tooth is fused, or it is beyond repair, professional don’t perform root end surgery because it needed to be pulled instead. A root end surgery is not recommended for every situation, but dentist may try to save patient tooth. Try to follow all instructions for best recovery.
