  • A blood test 
  • X-rays, ultrasounds, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) 
  • Joint fluid test.

 

Gout Treatment

A permanent cure is not available for gout but, it can be controlled. After the Gout treatment, you may feel that the pain and swelling have reduced and if you adopt a healthy lifestyle then future gout problems can be avoided to a great extent.

 

The drugs used to treat gout include:

  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) will be prescribed to treat severe gout.
  • Steroids can be used as an alternative to NSAIDs.
  • Colchicine helps in reducing the pain of gout.
  • Medicines that control the level of uric acid in the blood such as allopurinol, probenecid, and febuxostat.
