Here is what you need to know
Malaika Arora is undoubtedly one of the fittest Bollywood celebrities. The actress takes her diet and fitness routine very seriously and her flawless skin and toned body are proof of that. Even at 46, she looks fitter than some of the industry's youngest stars! The actress, who turned vegan a while back, always keeps her fans engaged with her food posts on Instagram. But recently she took to her social media handle to remind people about the right way to drink water.
Malaika's message
In a minute-long video, she said that in a race to get fitness and health, people are forgetting about the basics like the right way to drink it.
"We strive every day to keep ourselves fit, to learn something new about fitness- a new form of exercise, new superfoods available in the market, what to eat and how much to eat for different types of diet programs, but what we often forget in all of this is the BASICS," she wrote on her Instagram.
"Something as simple as drinking water. How to drink this simple and most important source of energy is something we usually don't even consider. Here's my tip to make sure that this simple thing is done in the right way," she added.
In the video, she said that everyone should sit and sip the water. Standing and gulping is not the right way to drink it.
Why you should not stand and drink water
We all have this habit of drinking water as soon as we get home. We never really put a thought to it whether we are doing it correctly or not. Well, as per science, your body is not able to absorb enough nutrients from water when you stand and gulp it. Doing this also puts you at the risk of several health problems. So, it is necessary to consume water in the right way. Even Ayurveda recommends you to sit down and sip the water slowly.
The benefits
When you stand and drink water, it passes through the system with a straight gush. It does not really reach all the organs of the body where it is supposed to do the job. In the end, all the toxins, which were supposed to be removed get deposited in the kidneys and the bladder. Moreover, gulping down the water does not really quench your thirst. So, it is advisable to relax, sit down and sip your water slowly.
