Kidney stones are irregular masses that form in your kidneys in the size of a small grain to a golf ball. Small grain-sized stones do not show any symptoms, and you may pass them while urinating. However, big or small, kidney stones induce noticeable pain while passing from your urinary tract. In the case of a big stone, your ureters can get blocked and bleed while passing the stone. In extreme cases, surgery is required to remove the stones as they get too big to be able to pass easily.

Kidney stones are common, and one out of ten people are likely to get them at least once in their lifetime. Men are more prone to forming kidney stones than women and children.
